چکیده

Introduction The Sixth Annaberg Conference continued the success of previous meetings through a combination of interesting talks, lively poster sessions and ample opportunities for the participants to meet informally in the hotel, on the ski slopes and even in the disco. As in previous years, the meeting was held in the medieval Schloss Goldegg near Salzburg, Austria, which provided an unusual but atmospheric setting for a conference dealing with recent advances in cell biology. The presentations covered a wide range of topics relating to protein transport along endocytic and exocytic pathways. In this report, we concentrate on a selection of these talks, and highlight concepts and trends that emerged during the meeting. We apologize to those speakers whose work we were unable to include owing to space limitations.

Impacts of highway traffic exhaust in alpine valleys on the respiratory health in adults: a cross-sectional study

BACKGROUND Most studies having shown respiratory health effects from traffic exhaust were conducted in urban areas with a complex mixture of air pollution sources. This study has investigated the potential impact of traffic exhaust on respiratory symptoms among adults living along a Swiss alpine highway corridor, where traffic exhaust from the respective trans-Alpine highway is the predominate ...

Alpnap – a New Project on Traffic-induced Noise and Air Pollution along Transport Routes in the Alps

ALPNAP (Monitoring and Minimisation of Traffic-Induced Noise and Air Pollution Along Major Alpine Transport Routes) is a new project financed under the EU Interreg III B Alpine Space Programme. It will run from 2005-2007. A network of eleven institutions has been formed with DLR Institute of Atmospheric Physics as the lead partner. The project aims at the integrated use of advanced science-base...

The Saccharomyces cerevisiae v-SNARE Vti1p is required for multiple membrane transport pathways to the vacuole.

The interaction between v-SNAREs on transport vesicles and t-SNAREs on target membranes is required for membrane traffic in eukaryotic cells. Here we identify Vti1p as the first v-SNARE protein found to be required for biosynthetic traffic into the yeast vacuole, the equivalent of the mammalian lysosome. Certain vti1-ts yeast mutants are defective in alkaline phosphatase transport from the Golg...

P3.3 Boundary Layer Structure in the Inn Valley during High Air Pollution (innap)

Over the last decades air pollution in the Alpine region has become an intensely debated subject at political and public levels. Clear evidence exists that heavy traffic along the major Alpine transport routes, such as the Brenner route through the Inn Valley (Austria) and over the Brenner Pass, has strongly contributed to the air pollution problem in Alpine valleys (e.g., Beauchamp et al., 200...

Alpine flora of Hezar mountain (SE Iran)

Iran is a mountainous country. Hezar Mt., is an isolated mountain with the highest peak of 4465 m (above sea level) located in southeast of Iran. This paper aims to provide a general overview of alpine phytodiversity of Hezar Mt. Alpine regions are above timber-line which is dependent on the climate, slopes and human activities. The timberline at Hezar Mt., is varying from 3200 m (North slope) ...
